AgriVoice routes unresolved pesticide questions to a named extension officer because a confident guess about dosage, re-entry, or the pre-harvest interval could put a farmer and their family at risk. When reviewed guidance cannot answer safely, the correct response is to pause the decision and send it to a qualified person.
Imagine it is 6:12 a.m. on a cocoa farm in Ghana. A farmer stands beside a sprayer that is already full. The question comes as an Asante Twi voice note: Is this mixture right, and can I enter the field again tomorrow?
The day has started. The equipment is ready. Waiting feels costly.

The dangerous moment comes after the question
A pesticide answer can sound useful while leaving out the detail that matters most. A product name without a verified dosage is incomplete. So is a spraying instruction without the re-entry interval, the period before someone can safely return to the treated field. The pre-harvest interval matters too.
These omissions are especially dangerous in spoken advice. A polished voice can make uncertain information sound settled. The farmer beside the sprayer may have no label in a familiar language, no agronomist standing nearby, and no reason to suspect that one missing sentence changes the decision.
Neuralis therefore limits what its language model can do. The model selects from content blocks that people have already reviewed. It does not compose new agronomy advice from scratch. Three chemical blocks remain held because their dosage and safety intervals have not been cleared by a Ghanaian agronomist.

Apollo 13 had a procedure for the unknown
In April 1970, the Apollo 13 crew faced rising carbon dioxide inside the spacecraft after an oxygen tank explosion forced them into the lunar module. The available lithium hydroxide canisters did not fit the system that needed them. NASA engineers in Houston had to devise an adapter using materials already aboard the spacecraft, then give the crew instructions to build it.
The outcome was uncertain while the carbon dioxide level continued to rise. Flight director Gene Kranz and the mission-control teams could not solve that problem by offering whatever sounded plausible. The proposed procedure had to work with the exact equipment available in space, under conditions where a mistaken instruction could cost three lives.

The stakes on a cocoa farm are different, but the decision mechanism is the same. When the answer falls outside verified material, route the question to someone accountable, test the facts against the real situation, and respond only when the instruction is safe to follow.
Escalation needs a name, not a queue
“Ask an expert” sounds reassuring until nobody owns the question.
Before farmers enter the AgriVoice pilot, a cocoa-sector partner must name the extension officer who receives escalations. That person becomes part of the product’s safety path. If a farmer asks about an unresolved pesticide decision, AgriVoice should preserve the question, explain that the advice requires review, and route it to that officer.
The pilot will measure whether this works in practice. The target is a median escalation response of less than one working day. An unresolved queue or an absent owner triggers redesign.
This is why the pilot cannot begin with software alone. The 37 owner-approved blocks need spoken Asante Twi reviewed by a farming-aware translator. A Ghanaian agronomist must clear or continue to withhold the three chemical blocks, explicitly covering dosage, re-entry, and pre-harvest intervals. Staff must then rehearse the complete path and confirm that unsafe advice never reaches a farmer.

A safe answer may begin with “wait”
Back beside the filled sprayer, the farmer needs a response that respects both urgency and uncertainty. AgriVoice can acknowledge the question in Asante Twi, avoid an unsupported dosage, and send the decision to the named extension officer. The system has still helped: it has prevented incomplete guidance from becoming action.
Apollo 13’s improvised adapter worked because Houston treated uncertainty as an operational problem. Engineers checked the available materials, tested the procedure, and passed precise instructions to the crew.
AgriVoice applies that discipline on a smaller scale. Before the first farmer uses it, the partner must identify the extension officer, the agronomist must resolve the held chemical guidance, and the full escalation path must pass a staff safety rehearsal. Until then, the sprayer can wait.
