That matters because pesticide guidance has details that cannot be filled in from familiarity. A product can have a similar-sounding name. The same chemical advice can change with the crop problem, the label, the recommended dose, the time before re-entering a sprayed field, and the interval before harvest. Ama does not receive a guessed Twi response. Her question moves to the extension officer named by the cocoa-sector partner, with the uncertainty preserved. The officer can ask what product she means, check the label or local recommendation, and give advice that belongs to a real person with agricultural responsibility.
A useful answer can be an escalation
Farmers need answers while decisions are still open. “Ask someone later” is too vague when a market truck is about to leave. A safe escalation needs an owner, a route, and a response expectation.
For AgriVoice, that means the pilot partner identifies the extension officer before any farmer uses the service. The question cannot disappear into an inbox with no accountable person. The officer receives the escalation and can respond in the context of the farmer’s actual concern.
This is the practical difference between a voice tool that sounds helpful and a service that can be trusted around crop chemicals. The voice system can handle the routine, reviewed questions. It must also recognize the boundary of what it knows.
That boundary protects the farmer and improves the product. Each escalation shows the team where reviewed content is missing, where a Twi product name causes confusion, or where the speech transcript needs human checking. A request that cannot safely continue becomes evidence for the next content review.
Apollo 13 had the same discipline under pressure
In 1970, the Apollo 13 crew faced rising carbon dioxide inside the lunar module after the explosion that ended the planned Moon landing. The system’s role is constrained selection: understand the farmer’s question, choose from approved advice when there is a safe fit, speak that answer in Twi, or escalate. It does not author agronomy.
This design also gives the extension officer a better starting point than an unstructured phone call. The escalation can carry the farmer’s recorded question, its transcript, the possible topic, and the reason the system stopped. The officer still makes the judgment. The system makes sure the request reaches the person who can make it.

Ama’s best outcome may be a precise answer from reviewed content. It may be an extension officer telling her not to buy the product she had in mind. Both outcomes are better than a system filling silence with an instruction it cannot support.
